Our PROGram

Real HELP that fits our students’ busy schedules and digital lifestyles

what ignites a student’s passion for science?

to take the hard classes?

to defy the odds?

Step 1: Select a “Risen Few”

Search our target geographic area. — the DMV — for those geeks and “blerds” who already have the potential and passion for higher level mathematics and/or the physical sciences.

TJP will schedule 1-2 intake cycles per year to select a “risen few” (program capacity is TBD).

Step 2: Build a micro-community

TJP scholars are already smart. What many lack is an enduring social and emotional support system to not only survive, but thrive in non-diverse classrooms, labs, and workplaces.

TJP will form student cohorts based on common STEM aspirations and interests. These social “clubs” will be small (<6), virtual, and thematic (e.g., biochem, theoretical physics, cognitive sciences).

Step 3: Inform, PREPARE, and expose

Today’s students are “digital natives” so our services will be deployed with this proclivity in mind. Whether it’s a Zoom call with a renowned researcher or a immunology webinar, all TJP endeavors will attempt to minimize the time and travel commitment.

TJP is developing an A.I. solution to curate information, events, and learning opportunities for each cohort. Popular collaboration and communication tools are being evaluated to give each cohort a channel over which they can chat, share info, and plan activities. These resources will be mobile or web-based apps so students can always access via their choice device.

How then shall the leaders of a struggling people be trained and the hands of the RISEN FEW strengthened? There can be but one answer: The best and most capable of their youth must be schooled in the colleges and universities of the land.

 FAQs

  • Stay tuned for details for the inaugural cohort intake!

  • Today, yes. We are building a foundation with a small number of DMV students. However, the TJP model can easily scale to a larger area or be replicated as a TJP chapter in another city.

  • TJP is focused on increasing African-American representation in competitive math and science disciplines. The African-American diaspora is both wide and deep so we certainly welcome racial and ethnic diversity in our cohorts.
